Story Time With Hayden

#3 The Barn

Shmickelhimer got back on the road. Leaving almost immediately after the kill. He went down a trail for about 45 minutes then he hit a dead end. He didn't think he was going the wrong way, but he must have, so he turned back. As he was walking back he noticed a sign that had a picture of a barn on it pointing to the dead end. The barn was the spot where he was planing to spend the next night. He was puzzled. He looked at the dead end, it was a trail that headed strait into a bush, how could that be the way to the barn? He tried to looked around the sides but the bush had no sides, it just kept going. Shmickelhimer took out his sword and chopped away at the bush. Going further and further into it. He felt like he had gone a mile in, but when he turned around he had only gone about two feet. He was amazed and angry at the same time. He knew that he had to have walked at least a mile into the bush, but somehow he didn't. Shmickelhimer slept out of the bush and he saw the gap in the bush disappear. He tried to climb over it, but the bush always fell from underneath him. He tried digging, but once he was about three inches under he hit something metal. Shmickelhimer pushed the dirt away to find a metal plate. On the metal plate it said, "To get past the bush, find the barn." Shmickelhimer was very confused, how could he find the barn when he can't get past the bush? Shmickelhimer looked and looked for some other way in, but he found none. He paced back and forth thinking how could he do this seemingly impossible task. He even tried to go around the bush, but it was a circle.

Adventure E.D. Washington Coast

In this entry I'll be talking about the trip the Adventure E.D. class did on the Washington coast. It started on October 12, 2008. The class arrived at the Adventure E.D. classroom at 6:00 a.m. on a Sunday. When everybody had arrived we headed for the bus. The bus left the middle school at 6:30 a.m. We went to the Keystone ferry. Once we got across it was about two hours until the ranger station. When we arrived at the ranger station we got our bear cans, which we stored our food in. After that it was time to go to the sight where the first group would be dropped off. I was in the first group along with Guy Sparkman, Isaac Rubenstein, Mitchell Hughes, Chase Collins, Sean Anderson, Korey Neilsin, Theo Witherspoon, Lillianna Stelling and Korena Moor. When we were going around a lake I through up, but I felt better afterwards. When we got to the beach we transferred our food into the bear cans. The other group got back on the bus and went to there destination. Every body in my group started hiking. The first stretch of beach was rocky sand. After about a half a mile we came to the first river that we had to cross. We kept walking and got to a spot call Hole In The Wall. It is a point with a giant hole going through it. The tide was up to high for us to go through it so we had to take the overland pass. Once we got over the overland pass we took a rest. We hiked for about another three miles going around points and rocky beaches. We took a couple more rests, the we finally got to the last point. As we looked around the point we could see our first camp. When we got there Guy and I set up our tent and then hung around the camp area. That night I had a chicken and rice mountain house meal. We made a fire and cooked muscles over it, then we went to sleep.
